FIRST EVER YT LAKE OF CHARITY – A HUGE SUCCESS IN SAALBACH HINTERGLEMM!!!
With great expectations for the first YT Lake of Charity on the Gerstreit See lake, the event was opened at 11.00 hours on Friday in brilliant sunshine.
The hope of winning one of many high quality tombola prizes, especially the main prize, a YT Dirt Bike, meant that a crowd besieged the tombola stall right from the start! The purpose of having a tombola was to make plenty of money. The final amount, however, surpassed all expectations!
A large number of visitors enjoyed themselves on Friday at the many sports attractions at the YT Lake of Charity event. Slackline Tools gave to large and small an insight into the world of slack lining, which, for example, helps to train your sense of balance.
The "Water Bomb” gave spectators and those who wanted to be propelled high into the air of the Hinterglemme mountains moments of breathless excitement. Soaring nine metres into the air was not unusual at this week-end charity event.
On the YT water ramp Patrik Hollaus, free ski professional from Bamberg rode his "Jünger" with consummate skill! Skiers, snowboarders and amateur bikers attempted stunts the like of which had not been before and which conjured up broad smiles on all faces.
The first successful YT Lake of Charity day came to an end with refreshing drinks and delicious grilled food, accompanied by the acoustic support of the ever-youthful band, N.O.I.S.E and Unplugged Set up of the Cantona Band featuring Happy Hoagascht
We were optimistic that we would achieve our aim of being able to do even better than the previous day and hoped against hope that the weather for Saturday would not turn out as forecast. Unfortunately the weather forecast was correct, so everything had to be postponed until the sun shone again on Sunday.
The unbelievable crowds at the After Party in the Glemmerkeller made everyone forget Saturday's rain. Into the small hours of the morning the king of the vinyls, "DJ Ampere", as well as "Train Delay", performing live provided fantastic music, adding even more to the success of this charity event.
Free from any competition stress professionals from the world of biking, free ski and snowboarding exuberantly showed off their stunts on the YT water ramp on the last, cloudless Sunday.
Flo Konietzko put himself in first place among the mountain bikers with a flip whip and therefore took home with him the winner's cheque for 300 Euros. Johannes Breitfuß with his brilliant Superman seat grabs from the "whippersnappers", and Tobi Wrobel with his flip / no hander took second and third places to the enthusiastic applause of the spectators.
Among the girls Karin Pasterer pipped Nina Fahrner to the post with a small but perfect table top and thus pocketed the winner's cheque.
In the free skiers men's section, Heinz Neuhofer came out in front of Eric Schwabel and Luka Exenberger with a huge variety of perfect rotations and raked in the winner's cheque.
The only entrant and therefore the overall winner in the free ski ladies' section was Sabine Schipflinger, who spiralled over the YT ramp with a 180.
Of all the sporting, musical, successful and eventful moments of the YT Lake of Charity, the visit of Michi Fischer was the most moving. The heartfelt thanks expressed by her mother and the smiling face of Michi Fischer told the organisers that they had done a good deed with this event and with it had made a small contribution to prove how important life is for each of us.
Thanks to the many purchases of tickets for the tombola and the takings from drinks, food, entrance fees, as well as the auction of three YT "Dirt Love" Bikes and the artwork of Gerald Herrmann, an incredible amount was raised for the Fischer family and their daughter Michi.
Thank you so much, on behalf also of the Fischer family, for coming to the event in such large numbers! You made it possible for YT Lake of Charity to succeed in its aim of mounting a charity event to show how wonderful life is!
