He only started mountain biking two years ago and managed something for which dirt jumpers around the world envy him. On 25 January 2011, 23-year-old Bienve Aguado Alba from Barcelona mastered the first double front flip with a mountain bike - an achievement that secured him a multi-year-contract with YT Industries.
Ever since he was a child, Bienvenido (span. welcome) Aguado Alba has a sense of rotation, because he used to be a gymnast for many years, just like YT rider Mads André Haugen. Bienve tried many different sports like field hockey, inline skating or wind surfing, until he finally found his calling in mountain biking. In 2008 he bought his first mountain bike and started his “self-experiments” on Barcelona’s dirt jump trails. In his first week he severely hurt himself every single day, but Bienve trained doggedly and slowly figured it out. The first trick he mastered was a can can. After four months he could jump back flips and after one year he landed he first front flip. Today he is a fulltime mountain bike pro and is paid for his spectacular shows in the Masters of Dirt tour.
„For me Bienve is one of the greatest talents in recent years”, says YT managing director Markus Flossmann. “Especially when considering that he only started mountain biking two years ago! Bienve is a complete rider who masters nearly any trick. I am sure we will hear and see lots of him in the near future.”
In January this year, the Spaniard set a new milestone in mountain biking history by landing the first ever double front flip on a mountain bike. In order to gain enough speed Bienve asked a cross biker to pull him towards the ramp on a moto cross field in Barcelona. For this stunt he had prepared himself meticulously for one year. His perseverance paid off. In addition to a bonus of one of his sponsors he also snatched a multi-year-contract with YT Industries.
Now he wants to rock the FMB World Tour with his new Romp. “It’s my big goal to win Crankworx one day, to travel around the world, and to place top 3 overall at the FMB World Tour. And to please my sponsors, of course”, says the 23-year-old who – up until two years ago - was aiming for a career as a fireman.
„Romp, the aluminium DJ/4X hardtail by YT Industries, is the perfect bike for me. It’s very agile, responds extremely well on dirt trails, I can easily do tailwhips with it, and it also looks super slick. In my eyes, Romp is the nicest YT model.”
Bienvenidos other sponsors are Crème gambas, Gloryfy sunglasses, SR Suntour and Masters of Dirt.
